A 65% wired Hall Effect keyboard that punches above its budget price — factory-lubed Jerrzi magnetic switches, the full HE feature suite (Rapid Trigger & SOCD included), well-tuned stabs, and a surprisingly rigid two-layer dampened build.
Read the full description
The Jedel KL167 is a 65% wired Hall Effect keyboard that genuinely punches above its price tier. On paper, it sits at the budget end of the HE market — ABS plastic chassis, tray mount, basic layout. In practice, it delivers a feature set, typing feel, and build rigidity meaningfully better than the price suggests, making it one of the more compelling entry-level Hall Effect options available.
The switch story starts with the Jerrzi Magnetic switches, factory-lubed and consistently smooth out of the bag. Contactless Hall Effect actuation means no physical wear between moving parts over time, and the factory lube eliminates the scratchiness and spring ping that plague unlubed budget alternatives. The plate-mounted stabilisers are pre-tuned and hold up well — larger keys are quiet and rattle-free in a way that's noticeably above average for the price. Where the KL167 surprises most is its two-layer dampening stack: plate foam combined with high-density case filling. The case filling adds structural rigidity that transforms how the board feels in hand — it stops the chassis feeling hollow and resonant, giving it a solidity well above what an ABS tray-mount build normally delivers at this price.
The full HE feature suite is accessible through a dedicated Windows application: Rapid Trigger, SOCD, DKS, MT, TGL, and per-key adjustable actuation are all present and configurable, alongside macro creation and lighting control. For a keyboard at this price to include Rapid Trigger and SOCD is genuinely unusual — these features typically appear on boards at two to three times the cost — and their presence makes the KL167 a credible option not just for casual typists but for competitive players who want HE input precision without the higher-tier price.
The trade-offs are real and worth stating plainly: the ABS chassis is what it is, the sound profile reflects the build, and the board doesn't feel premium the way gasket-mounted or multi-layer dampened alternatives do. But the typing experience is smooth, the stabs are well-tuned, the dampening is more effective than expected, and the feature depth is far beyond what a budget HE keyboard typically offers. For a first Hall Effect board or a price-conscious second setup, the KL167 earns its place with ease.
