The third generation of Gateron's G Pro linear — a factory-lubed 50gf linear with two real upgrades over the 2.0: a frosted light guide for brighter, even RGB and a reinforced three-ply pin for hot-swap durability. 100M-click rated.
Read the full description
The Gateron G Pro 3.0 Yellow is the third generation of Gateron's G Pro linear lineup — a 3-pin factory-lubed linear that refines two of the most practically important details of its predecessor: RGB output quality and pin structural integrity. For anyone who's followed the G Pro series, the 3.0 is a meaningful upgrade rather than a cosmetic rebadge; for anyone new to it, it's a well-specified, durable linear with a 100-million-click rated life and two genuine engineering improvements over the G Pro 2.0.
The first is the frosted light-guided surface on the bottom housing. The 3.0 keeps the condensing light-effect structure from the 2.0 but adds a frosted diffusion layer to the light-guide path for brighter, more consistent backlight across the full keycap. Standard transparent housings concentrate LED output into a visible hotspot; the frosted guide scatters it evenly, for a cleaner, more uniform RGB appearance from edge to edge — a visible difference in builds where lighting quality is part of the design intent.
The second is the three-ply chunky pin. The 3.0's PCB pins are made at 0.3–0.33mm with a three-layer construction that increases structural hardness without increasing pin diameter. In practice, the pins hold their shape better through repeated hot-swap insertion and removal — a direct answer to the pin deformation that's a known failure mode for switches used in hot-swap builds over time. The dimensions stay within standard MX socket tolerances, so compatibility is fully preserved.
The force-travel character is a single-stage spring: a gentle curve from around 25gf at the top of the stroke, building progressively to the 50gf operating point at 2mm, then to a firm 67gf bottom-out at 4mm. The reset point sits just below the operating point with a close gap, for a clean, short reset and fast re-actuation. The single-stage spring gives a smooth, uninterrupted progressive curve — no phase break, no stiffness spike — suiting sustained typing and rapid gaming equally. Factory lubrication addresses friction noise and spring ping across the full stroke.
🌟 Key Features
- Frosted Light-Guided Surface — Upgraded housing over the G Pro 2.0 for brighter, more consistent RGB by diffusing LED light evenly across the keycap
- Three-Ply Chunky Pin (0.3–0.33mm) — Reinforced three-layer pin resists deformation through repeated hot-swap cycles without changing diameter or compatibility
- Factory Pre-Lubed — Applied at manufacture for immediate smooth, creak-free performance from the first press
- Progressive Single-Stage Spring — Smooth, uninterrupted force curve from ~25gf at top to a 50gf operating point to a 67gf bottom-out — no phase break or stiffness spike
- Transparent PC Top + White Frosted Nylon Bottom — Clear upper for light entry with a frosted white base for even, controlled diffusion
- POM Stem (Yellow) — Naturally low-friction, self-lubricating stem for a smooth, consistent linear stroke
- 100M-Click Rated Lifespan — Gateron's highest-tier durability rating for long-term daily use
- Short Reset Distance — Operating and reset points sit close together for fast re-actuation
- 3-Pin Compatible — Fits all 3-pin PCBs natively and 5-pin PCBs as well

📦 How Many Do I Need?
Switches are sold in packs of 10. As a rough guide: a 60/65% board needs ~68 switches (7 packs), a 75% ~84 (9 packs), a TKL ~87 (9 packs), and a full-size ~104 (11 packs). Buy a pack or two extra if you want spares.
✅ Genuine Gateron
Sourced directly from Gateron / official distribution — these are genuine Gateron G Pro 3.0 Yellow switches, not clones or relabels.
🎯 Perfect For
- RGB build owners who want clean, even backlight across every key — the frosted guide eliminates the hotspot of standard clear-bottom switches
- Hot-swap builders who cycle switches often and want a pin that holds its shape beyond standard tolerance
- Typists and gamers who want a familiar, well-documented Gateron linear with meaningful internal improvements over the previous generation
- Budget-to-mid linear buyers after a 100M-click switch at an accessible price with genuine engineering refinements, not a token revision
