The Eweadn X98 packs an unusually dense feature set under a single 96% chassis: smart side-touch control, a dynamic ambient light bar, five-layer acoustic dampening, a 12000mAh battery, and a gasket-mounted flex-cut build. Together they make a keyboard that competes well above its price tier — offered in two variants that differ meaningfully in switch character, plate material, and competitive feature support.
The structural foundation is a gasket-mounted design built around a PC flex-cut plate and a 1.2mm per-key flex-cut PCB. The combination produces a notably soft, elastic typing feel — each press absorbs and returns through the gasket layer rather than bottoming against a rigid frame — which benefits both extended typing comfort and the sound profile. Five dampening layers build on that base: Poron internal foam, IXPE switch pad, PET sound pad, bottom dampening foam, and a silicone base layer, each addressing a distinct resonance point to produce a clean, full-bodied sound that needs no post-purchase modding to appreciate.
Interaction goes beyond the keycaps. The Smart Strip on the side enables intuitive touch-based volume control without breaking typing flow — a small but genuinely useful quality-of-life touch for anyone who adjusts audio often. The dynamic side light bar frames the board with ambient RGB from every angle, complementing the per-key 16.8M RGB with music-reactive sync. Cloud Stream Blue uses Gateron Everfree Yuntai switches on a PC plate with 1K polling — a typing-focused build for those who prioritise switch feel and acoustics over competitive input specs.
